Commissioning from afar
A commission may begin anywhere in the world, and arrive without a word said in passing.
Distance changes nothing of the discipline. Whether you write to us from a residence, an embassy or a far city, a piece of Maison Grande Remise is commissioned as it has always been: from a silhouette, a function, an intention, never from a stock. What the distance asks of us is only more care, never less precision. We have made of remoteness a quiet protocol: a measure taken with method, a making conducted in the calm of haute mesure, a delivery carried out under guard, a fitting attended to as if you had never left the atelier. Throughout, your figures are kept to you alone. The commission is yours, and so is its silence.
The measure, at a distance
The measure travels to you. By a guided video appointment, an atelier hand leads you through each figure, point by point, with a measurement guide sent ahead so nothing is left to chance. Where you prefer, a trusted local tailor takes the figures and conveys them to us. The numbers are read, verified, and kept to you alone: set down by hand, named to no one, the quiet beginning of a piece that will exist for you and no one else.
The making, in the ateliers
From your figures comes the line, and from the line the cut. In the calm of haute mesure, the suit is shaped to the body, the canvas worked by hand, the leather chosen for the grain it will keep. When the line is true, the Maison signs with a thread: the rising half-sun, embroidered to the piece stitch upon patient stitch, in the place where a craft is worn rather than declared. Nothing is hurried, because nothing exact ever is. The piece carries the time it was given.
Delivery, worldwide
The finished piece travels under guard. Wrapped and protected by the hands that made it, it is dispatched fully insured, by discreet and traceable carriage, to the address you alone designate. Nothing on the parcel announces its maker or its worth. Where the destination allows, a white-glove delivery presents the piece in person, unhurried and unremarked. From the atelier to your door, the discretion of the making is carried through to the very last gesture.
Reception, fitting and alterations
A piece is not finished until it sits as it should. On reception, you try the piece in your own time, and we attend to it from afar as we would in the atelier, by guided appointment, or through your trusted tailor. Should a line ask for adjustment, the alterations are made without charge, until the cut answers the body exactly. Only then is the commission complete: a piece that existed for no one before you, and now belongs to you alone.
The Maison's assurance
Discretion is, here, a form of luxury. Your figures, your address and your commission are kept to you alone, named to no one, and never shared. Each piece is registered to the Maison, and your measurements remain on file for any future commission, so the next begins where this one left off. We stand by the work for its life: a piece made by our ateliers may be returned to us to be cared for, repaired and brought back to its first bearing. To this is added the legal guarantee of conformity and the guarantee against hidden defects, under French law. A house is read first in the constancy of its hand.
The commission and its terms
A commission begins with a deposit. Once the order, the piece, its specifications, the lead time and the price, is set down in writing, an acompte sets the work in motion and reserves the hands of the atelier for you. The balance is settled before delivery, through our secured providers, in euros. Because nothing is held in stock and each piece is made for one, the deposit is firm once the making has begun: it answers to materials chosen and a silhouette that exists for you alone. The piece remains the Maison's until the price is paid in full, then it is yours, signed discreetly by FFGR & IFGR.
